tropical paradise?
welcome to my life, where you will see
everything about me and my surroundings.
if you can see this, it probably means
something wrong has happened.

under the crashing waves
find me.

birthdays...

Birthdays are exciting, but sometimes I just hate them. The exciting part is that it's that special time of the year, and everyone finally pays attention to you for just one day, and you get all this cool stuff and everything, but the part I hate about it is growing up, and what I'm going to talk about: the parties & presents.

Whenever I'm invited to a birthday party, I feel like stress has just put down upon me, really. I just hate the fact that I have to spend hours searching for a perfect present. I mean, I love giving gifts to my friends and everything (it makes me happy), but I always worry that they won't like it, or they'll think I'm "cheap".

I mean, for some reason, people think that giving money away as a present or a gift card is "cheap". At least, one of my friends do. One time she was complaining about how she spent "so much money" buying her friends gifts and all they give her is money or a gift card. Oh, come on. The last present she gave me was Nutrigrain bars and a bag of dark chocolate M & Ms and some other kinds of foods. I'm not saying I don't appreciate her gift - I do, but when she said how she spent so much money for friends, I kinda scoffed inside. Anyways, isn't money like, the perfect gift?! How is it cheap?! At least your friends GAVE you a present - back then apparently the birthday person was supposed to give gifts to his or her guests, not the other way around. And plus, with the money, you can choose what to do with it and actually make sure you get a gift you want.

So I always want to give my friends a gift card (so they have more variety) or money, but I don't want to seem cheap... so I buy them both.

But now I'm going to the Great Mall (which isn't so great) to buy 2 friends a birthday present... sigh... too much work when I can give them some cash.
