tropical paradise?
welcome to my life, where you will see
everything about me and my surroundings.
if you can see this, it probably means
something wrong has happened.

under the crashing waves
find me.

pokemon & a serious note
Friday, July 31, 2009 10:52 AM
I just had to say this; I finally got some batteries for my Gameboy Advance (I still use it, no shame!) and after so many months of not playing Pokémon, I am now reunited with my Squirtle and Swampert.

Okay, and now the serious part:

I've also been thinking about my church. To be honest, and I don't think I'm afraid to admit this, I'm going to miss them as much as my best friends & family. Sometimes maybe more than my best friends (family first). I love my best friends so very much and will always love them, but my church is like my best friend. I've only been there for 1 1/2 years, but I've been fitting in really well since my church is so nice and accepting.

I think my church is a best friend, a family member, and a spiritual mentor. Best friend because you hang out with them during church camps and retreats, you work with them for 8 hours in the sweltering heat, they plan surprise parties for you when you're leaving for Taiwan... Family because when you're sick with a high fever and strep throat, they're late for dinner because they want to take care of you; they tell you to call them whenever you need help; they're there for you always and not only are they brothers and sisters in Christ, but they just act like (and love you as much) they're your brother and/or sister. And of course, spiritual mentor because when you need prayer, they are always willing to pray for you - even if the prayer request seems "dumb" or "not important"; when you have questions about God, they are quick to answer; when you admit that you're struggling with something, they still love you and will help you.

I've only been to this church for less than 2 years, but so many youth in this church are just so kind to me, seriously. My friend planned a surprise party for me to Great America (she failed... she thought I knew it was a surprise party for me even when I didn't and totally invited someone to it in front of me, saying, "Wanna come to Kali's surprise party?) and apparently today at youth group they're gonna buy a cake for me and pray for me as a whole group (again, it was supposed to be a surprise haha). I'm not trying to like, praise myself or show off, I'm just showing how loving my church is.

I am really blessed to have a church like this. They've been with me through every hardship, through every illness, through every prayer request, and through every doubt. I'm really thankful for each and every one of them.
