welcome to my life, where you will see
everything about me and my surroundings.
if you can see this, it probably means
something wrong has happened.

pokemon & a serious note
Friday, July 31, 2009 10:52 AM
I just had to say this; I finally got some batteries for my Gameboy Advance (I still use it, no shame!) and after so many months of not playing Pokémon, I am now reunited with my Squirtle and Swampert.

Okay, and now the serious part:

I've also been thinking about my church. To be honest, and I don't think I'm afraid to admit this, I'm going to miss them as much as my best friends & family. Sometimes maybe more than my best friends (family first). I love my best friends so very much and will always love them, but my church is like my best friend. I've only been there for 1 1/2 years, but I've been fitting in really well since my church is so nice and accepting.

I think my church is a best friend, a family member, and a spiritual mentor. Best friend because you hang out with them during church camps and retreats, you work with them for 8 hours in the sweltering heat, they plan surprise parties for you when you're leaving for Taiwan... Family because when you're sick with a high fever and strep throat, they're late for dinner because they want to take care of you; they tell you to call them whenever you need help; they're there for you always and not only are they brothers and sisters in Christ, but they just act like (and love you as much) they're your brother and/or sister. And of course, spiritual mentor because when you need prayer, they are always willing to pray for you - even if the prayer request seems "dumb" or "not important"; when you have questions about God, they are quick to answer; when you admit that you're struggling with something, they still love you and will help you.

I've only been to this church for less than 2 years, but so many youth in this church are just so kind to me, seriously. My friend planned a surprise party for me to Great America (she failed... she thought I knew it was a surprise party for me even when I didn't and totally invited someone to it in front of me, saying, "Wanna come to Kali's surprise party?) and apparently today at youth group they're gonna buy a cake for me and pray for me as a whole group (again, it was supposed to be a surprise haha). I'm not trying to like, praise myself or show off, I'm just showing how loving my church is.

I am really blessed to have a church like this. They've been with me through every hardship, through every illness, through every prayer request, and through every doubt. I'm really thankful for each and every one of them.

will eat (cooked) snails for $$$
Wednesday, July 29, 2009 7:04 PM
Yesterday my friend hosted, i guess you could say, a good bye party for me. We went to Great America & later ate at Sweet Tomatoes. It was an amazing day, omg.

So at Sweet Tomatoes the guys made some weird soup (chili, rosemary soup or whatever, clam chowder, black pepper, red pepper, and more) and dared each other to eat it. but then we girls (that sounded weird) joined in and then they told me they'd pay me $6.20 to eat the whole bowl. the first bite wasnt too bad, so i agreed. man, it was spicy. my friends gave me milk to drink to cool me down, but the milk was gross so i spit it out.

at the end our table was filled with gross bowls & cups. but, a few of us made some money from drinking and eating weird stuff.

and today, I was walking in the kitchen and my housekeeper told me like always, "I made some food if you want it" and pointed at the food she made. I said okay and then looked at what she made. Then... I saw the cooked snails. I stared at it for a few seconds, waited until my mom came home, and then she told me they were snails.

I love eating exotic foods, like duck fetus and animal brains and whatnot, but one thing I will NOT eat is snail. It's too gross. But, I think I'm gonna try it someday...

Oh, and today I totally had an upset stomach. I was about to describe it, but it's okay.

life is really stressful.
when things get stressful, i become lazy and start procrastinating and then i end up being even more stressful, and so the cycle continues.

world changers my summer (july 4th!)
Saturday, July 04, 2009 9:48 AM

Just got back from World Changers, which is basically an Christian organization for students interested in missions trip... AKA, I just came back from a missions trip in Clovis, which is located in Fresno, California.

It was from June 27th to July 4th, a whole week. Unfortunately almost everyone there was sick and I got a fever and strep throat, so I had to go home on Wednesday since my fever wasn't going down. It was a huugeee bummer for me because World Changers is an amazing experience to say the least. Lots of people get saved during just that one week. It's so amazing I have to talk all about it.
We basically drive about 3 hrs to Clovis, and settle down on Saturday. This year we're staying at a high school. Sunday, you meet your crew - a bunch of people from all over the nation. I had people from Vegas, a place near Temecula, and New Mexico. Then you go to a random church with your crew, a church that will provide you with food while you're on your work sites. On Monday, you eagerly wake up at around 5:30 am, have a great send off, and go to your work site at 7:20 or so and work for 8 hrs in jeans and in around 100 degree weather. Sounds torturous, which it defiently is, but it is such a amazing experience spiritually, and I guess you could say physically.
My favorite part is worship, which is after dinner at around 7? pm. we gather up in the worship center (some kind of auditorium) and sing and listen to the guy speak. oh man, it's amazing. then you sit with your youth group and talk. I just love retreats and camps and whatnot, where you stay at a place you're not familiar with and live with your friends, because we open up so easily. I always open up easier for God to tell me something during those times, and each time during worship I always feel the chills. you know what I mean? So I always try to talk during devotions.
words can't explain how amazing this experience is. Reader, please check out world changers (google it). It's a life changing experience, trust me. People in Clovis definitely notice us, too. Last year a group was on the local news, and this year my group was in the Fresno Be (which reminds me, the article comes out today! :) ) A police officer told us that after we leave, people still talk about us and can't wait for next year when we come back.
I just love world changers. Man. God bless them :)
& also, happy fourth of july!
i remember years ago when i used to go up to valley during fourth of july and they would have football games at night and shoot fireworks.
amazing.
God bless,
